Showing up

“Showing up is 80 percent of life.” Woody Allen

Showing up. At your job, at a meeting. Sitting down at your desk because it’s time to write.

When you feel like it or not.

When you’d much rather do anything else.

Discipline requires tremendous mental effort.

It’s the extra mile, the extra routine, the two or three hundred more words that you write.

That little extra is what really makes the difference.

Showing up when you don’t feel like it, when you just want to act lazy and sit in bed and listen to music all day long.

Success is all about showing up. That’s it.

Show up. Do your thing. Finish stuff.

It’s that easy and that hard. That simple and that complicated.

  1. “Showing up when you don’t feel like it, when you just want to act lazy and sit in bed and listen to music all day long.” That is me to a “T.” Thank you for bringing my attention back where it belongs.

  2. Decisions, revolutions, and great events are made by those who show up. To engage, you have to show up where the action is likely to happen. And before you get there, you have to know yourself and what you are capable of doing. All made possible by practice, practice, and more practice. We make our own lives by being fully ourselves at all times. That’s the payback for just showing up. Thanks for setting me off on this line of thought.

  3. Absolutely hit the nail on the head here. That’s what discipline is all about. Success does not come without struggle. So that’s why you just have to do things sometimes, even when you don’t want to. Thanks for sharing.
